Brian Herriot

AUTHOR, SPEAKER, BUSINESS COACH,
AND FINANCIAL ADVISOR

THERE’S MORE TO A BIO THAN PROFESSIONAL ACCOLADES. HERE’S A LIST OF THINGS THAT MAKE ME ME

  • In many ways, I'm a very average guy. I played high school basketball and tennis, but just "okay." I'm lucky to have grown up in a strong family unit. I recognize that I've been afforded many advantages as a white male living in the United States. It's important to me to advocate for those who don't have my advantages.
  • My life has been uniquely filled with wonderful people horribly impacted by Cystic Fibrosis: Carrie, Cookie, and Clairey. (The last person I married.) One of my greatest accomplishments is organizing a charity stairclimb that raised a combined $200,000 for CF research.
  • I love entrepreneurship, though I showed little evidence of this as a kid. I didn't do the typical things young entrepreneurs do. My dad suggested I turn the three lawns I mowed into a lawn care business, but I didn't. I think I loved summertime too much.

  • My most cherished place is a place we call Up North Wisconsin. I've designed my life to spend long stretches at our modest cabin on serene Lake Seventeen in Hazelhurst. It's my happy place.

  • At 47, I reached what I now call "time freedom." I'm not financially independent (sorry, I know it'd be flashier if I were). But I do control how, when, and with whom I work. Since moving into coaching, writing, and speaking, I've met so many incredible people.

My “look ahead” goals:

  • In the next ten years, I hope to spend an autumn in New York, live for a few months in Spain, help my son launch his entrepreneurial endeavor (whatever it might be), fill our cabin with a steady stream of friends, and explore new corners of the world with Claire. I want to create work that feels indistinguishable from play.
